All that remains.

Antlers, Jaws and all things Skeletal.

Experiments with scanning

A antler found while walking the dogs
scanning the bones to give an eerie feel to my images
The composition of all my scans made into one final image, that I can use in my project. What lies in the dark, what hides under you bed, who watches when none else is looking. How will the dawn rise with such darkness.

Some Skully delights

It's better to light a candle than curse at the darkness

A glimpse into how my foundation course is going so far.

My project is based on old proverbs; to explore outcomes I looked into the social, literal and mythical connotations behind proverbs.
The idea of the shoot was that even in the darkness there's a light; in this case the darkness is death and decay an the light is position of the bones and the ethereal atmosphere the colours and lighting gives.

Small bird skulls on silk, personal favourite
cat skull and assorted animal limbs

Close up on rabbit jaw, I really like the discolouration on the bones

Closer view of the bird skulls

Dog skull, I like the purple and blue hues in these images.

My set up looks like a palaeontology dig site, and I'm a bit of a dinosaur fan.
The full image, I placed the bones to make it look as though they dance and frolic together. I wanted it to look playful and cute even though the subject is macabre.
this represents a little light in the darkness and how some hope, faith and simply seeing past the situation; allows us to see the silver lining to situations that would other wise be taboo or controversial.

On the go

I can honesty say that a foundation course is a lot of hard work and determination; nothing supports this fact more than my effort to work the blogger app.
I don't hate it I just don't like it... yet.
From what I can tell there are many draw backs, not just the lack of mouse and keyboard, my trusted sidekicks of navigation. But simple more worrying issues.
For instance I can't edit layout or text, from what I can. Yet I can put a picture (or pixelated mass if its my phone camera) onto. my post. I don't want to be fussy its just, to me, that defeats the idea.

this fact leads me to conclude that blogging on the go look likes like a dream still. but at least we'll always have Paris.

Red Kuri and Butter Bean Soup.

Soup glorious soup

We're anxious to try it. Three banquets a day - Our favourite diet!

It's a well know fact I love food. I like it in on and around me and nothing makes me happier than cooking for others. This can only be multiplied by the addition of soup; I really love soup. So with out further a do I give you ...

Red Kuri and Butter Bean Soup.

A delicious winter warmer.

Now this is an adapted recipe I found a long time ago on the internet that involved coconut, nut I went for a nut free option and made my own. It's so easy and very filling!

1. Start off by Heating the oven to 400°F. Use a heavy, sharp knife or cleaver to cut the squash into quarters. Place these quarters in a roasting pan to roast for about 30 mins to an hour, depending on the size of you squash.

2. It is cool enough to be easily handled. When cool, peel the skin away from the squash flesh. then put it into a blender and smush that squash into a purée. now put in a pot with some olive oil in the bottom of it and put that on the hob at a low heat.

3. Add two crushed cloves of garlic (or if you me put the whole bulb in for good measure) half a tube of tomato purée (about 60-100g) and around 150-200g of butter beans to every 300-400g of squash flesh.

4. Season with a little mint and oregano, a good teaspoon of paprika and cayenne pepper, then and dash of black pepper, 1 vegetable stock cube and salt to taste.

5. Then let it simmer for 10- 20 mins allowing it to become piping hot and allowing the herbs and spices to heat through the soup.

6. Serve hot for a great winter warming soup guaranteed to fill and please. Serving to someone I suggest a few fresh mint leaves to garnish and to really impress someone do it with with buttered home made bread, trust me its super indulgent feeling and deliciously worth it!

My efforts and of course with home-made bread, honestly scrumptious.

What are my simple plesures?

My simple pleasures...

Art, illustration, photography, recipes food, game concepts, fashion, films, and passing inspirations.

hello reader, I'm a girl call called Freddy entering the mad and cut throat world of computer game design and I'm currently on a foundation diploma course to get me there.

This is me, a self portrait I took as part of my foundation; unfortunately you'll be seeing a lot more of me and my work on here as I experiment and progress.
My favorite art disciplines on the course have been illustration, photography and traditional and digital painting. Expect to see a lot of artist review and annotation or perhaps worship and wishing; as I join the 'up and coming'.
